Community participation across a wide variety of events, on land and sea, has brought enjoyment to generations and raised considerable sums of money for a number of grateful charities. Selsey has formally or informally commemorated events of national and local significance. Two World Wars and extremes of weather have forced residents to endure loss and damage.
